My name is Eric Shepherd;

I am a retired Refrigeration Project Manager. I now live in Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales, and I am a keen lifelong photographer of everything that interests me. I retired in 2001 to fulfil an ambition of living afloat.

I have been interested in sailing and boats all my life. In 1995 I bought my first sailing cruiser capable of sustaining life afloat. Over the following six years and two more boats, in which my wife Margaret and I had many adventures, covering the home waters between England and Ireland. In 2001, I took early retirement sold up our home and bought a Moody 40 Centre Cockpit sailing Cruiser located in Corsica.
During the next three years, we cruised the Mediterranean between Corsica, France, Spain and Portugal. The stories of the voyages and lifestyles are the subjects of four digitally illustrated books on CD, written during this time. In 2004 while in Portugal, my wife fell ill and had to be rushed back to the UK for an emergency operation. I eventually, after many traumas, including trying to sail back to the UK with a scratch crew, decided to sell the boat and settle back in England.
With the sailing out of my system, but not my soul, I threw myself full-time into Photography.
I am now fully integrated to the “Yorkshire” way of life. I am a member of the U3A at Bedale, St Oswalds Church Hauxwell & St Michaels Church Spennithorne.
On this site besides the image galleries, you will have the opportunity to purchase the books, photographs, and the new exciting medium of Digital Audio-Visual presentations, which in CD format can be viewed by computer and/or digital projector, in DVD format on domestic TV. More details of these are contained in the following pages. I also teach "Silver Surfers" the rudiments of computing, digital photography, and Internet navigation.
