Photography Page.
My interests in photography go back to my childhood days, when you could buy a picture making kit which consisted of a negative of a well known football or cricket team, a sheet of light sensitive paper with a cardboard folder to hold it all together. After assembling the kit, you held it towards the sun or a strong light source and eventually, a positive image appeared.
Eventually I inherited my Mothers “Box Brownie”, which was a little inconsistent to say the least.
Then Boots the chemists imported a cheap range of Russian cameras, which managed to jam on 2 out of 3 films. I once built an underwater camera housing, using a football bladder and a cut down diving mask. My first proper camera was a Canon A1, bought from Dixon’s as a package with a standard and a telephoto lens. A diversion into cine and video photography took up the next couple of years of my photographic development, to fund it I had to sell off the still camera gear, I actually owned one of the first domestically available Sony shoulder mounted video cameras, with a separate recorder. Eventually I sold off the cine/video gear and bought my second A1 and progressed into developing and printing my own pictures, which I found messy and time consuming. That phase was terminated when I managed to fill the lounge ceiling with waste developing fluid, when a drain I had installed parted. A change in marital status enabled me to take up on my love of sailing. My first digital still camera was the top of the range Fuji which served me well for 6 years, including three living on the boat, until the internal battery charger gave up the ghost. I bought a used replacement from Ebay, which was stolen from our car in a McDonalds car park in Le Havre France. A like for like replacement was purchased via my car insurance in France. It was my relocation to the Yorkshire Dales which really fired my photography interest, the place is so photogenic you just want to go out and take pictures then show them to the World. My current camera is a Nikon D200 with a Nikon 18 – 200mm zoom lens, which was recommended by the chairman of the local photography club, www.wensleydalecameraclub.org.uk Since then I have joined the club, I am a member of the committee, competed in a number of competitions, with some success, and have now graduated to AV Presentation. I had a wealth of photographic material from my sailing days, unfortunately the pictures from those days were taken at a relatively low resolution, as memory card and computer space was at a premium. So although ideal for AV presentations and Digital books, is no use for large prints. The pictures I have taken around The Dales are available as RAW images, A4 prints, or mounted prints. The RAW images are supplied on a copyright free basis. A selection is available to see on the site, however I have lots more, just let me know what you are looking for. As I suffer from ostio arthritis the scenes I use must be within a short walking distance of where I can park my car. I will undertake commissions, just let me know what you are interested in. The prices for the above are found on the pricing page.
